Waitlist & Puppy Selection
How it works
At Rosewood Puppies, there are a few steps we take with potential clients before they are placed on our waitlist. This is a vital part of our program that ensures that buyers are well-suited for our dogs, and vice versa. The success of our puppies and puppy buyers is incredibly important to us.
Step 1: Fill out an application
The application form is a wonderful tool that asks you to think about what you want in a dog so that we can help you find the best match for your lifestyle. Upon receiving your application, Dannah from Rosewood Puppies will contact you to provide and gather further information, answer any questions you may have, and to discuss available puppies and future litters. Once your application is accepted, we will then accept your reservation fee.
Step 2: Submit a Reservation Fee
Our non-refundable reservation fee is $300.00 CAD and is later applied to the total cost of the puppy. Upon receiving your reservation fee, you will be placed on our waitlist.
Step 3: Waitlist
The waitlist functions as a queue - those at the beginning of the list get to select their puppies first, and those at the end select last. Once you’re added to our waitlist, we will let you know your number based on where you are in the queue. That being said, there are a couple exceptions to these rules. Rosewood Puppies reserve the right for 1st and 2nd pick of each litter to be kept for our breeding program. In addition, if a buyer requires a dog for service work, they will be placed at the top of the list to ensure that they find a suitable puppy for their unique needs.
Step 4: Puppy Selection
Puppy selection takes place once puppies are 6.5-7.5 weeks old, after we have completed their puppy evaluations. Puppy evaluation scores are extremely helpful, giving buyers the tools they need to choose the puppy best suited for their needs and lifestyle. It also allows us as breeders to have peace of mind, knowing that matches meet the needs of our beloved puppies.
We share the results of our evaluations a few days prior to puppy selection day to give buyers time to consider their options before coming to our home in Guelph, ON for puppy selection. We will also be sharing tons of videos and pictures with our buyers throughout the time puppies are with us, giving you the opportunity to watch the puppies grow from the comfort of your home. We encourage buyers to have a list of 3-4 puppies that they think would best suit their needs ready for selection day. Buyers are given a 30 minute time slot based on where they are on the waitlist to visit and select their puppy on site.
Step 5: Go Home Day
Puppies go home on the Saturday after the puppies are 8 weeks old and have received their full veterinarian examination. Once you have taken your puppy home, we will continue to be there for you and to support you with your puppy in any way we can.
